BHU PMT - Banaras Hindu University Pre Medical Test is an all India entrance examination for the admission of MBBS/BDS/BAMS/ B.Pharm Courses.
BHU PMT Eligibility Criteria:-
Age:- Completed 17 years but not crossed 25 years as on 31st December, 2012 (Candidates born after 1st January, 1996 and on or before 31st December, 1987 need not apply).
Qualifications:-
Passed Intermediate / 10+2 or equivalent examination in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany)
For MBBS/BDS/BAMS – a minimum of 50% marks for General and 45% for General-PC candidates and 40% marks for OBC#/SC/ST and respective PC candidates;
For B.Pharm. – a minimum of 60% marks for General / OBC and respective PC candidates and 55% marks for SC/ST and respective PC candidates. Candidates appearing in qualifying examination may also apply.
Distribution of Seats:-
M.B.B.S.(84 seats) General - 42; OBC – 23; SC – 13 and ST – 6
BDS (38 seats):- General – 19; OBC – 10; SC – 6 and ST – 3
BAMS (50 seats):- General – 25; OBC – 13; SC – 8 and ST – 4
B.Pharm. (33 seats): General – 17; OBC – 9; SC – 5 and ST – 2.
Three percent seats are reserved for Physically Challenged (PC) candidates on horizontal basis in the above courses.
BHU PMT 2012 Dates/ Notification:-
BHU PMT 2012 Screening shall be held on Wednesday, the 16th May 2012 at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad Centres to screen candidates for eligibility to appear in PMT-2012 MAIN examination for MBBS course which will be held on Sunday, the 17th June 2012 at Varanasi Centre only. For BDS/BAMS*/B.Pharm. courses, candidates will be selected on the basis of their merit in the PMT-2012 SCREENING only.
Sale of Application Form: 09.01.2012 to 05.03.2012* from the designated branches of Bank of Baroda (Application Form can be obtained from Bank of Baroda, BHU Branch, S.S. Hospital, Varanasi upto 12.03.2012)
Last Date of Submission of Application Form : Application form duly completed must be sent through Registered Post so as to reach THE DIRECTOR (PMT CELL), INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES, BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY, VARANASI-221 005 latest by 15.03.2012. Application forms received after the last date shall not be accepted. Foreign Nationals are not required to appear in the PMT examination for MBBS/BDS/BAMS courses. They may seek admission through the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi, as per the rules laid down for the purpose and their nomination must reach by 15.07.2012.

(a) BY CASH : Rs. 1500/- for GEN/OBC and Rs. 1000/- for SC/ST candidates from the following branches of Bank of Baroda.

(b) BY POST : From the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221 005 by sending a written request through Registered Post along with Crossed Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque (MICR only) of Rs. 1600/- for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 1100 for SC/ST candidates of a Nationalized Bank, drawn in favour of “The Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU” payable at Varanasi. Application form will be sent by Speed / Registered Post. However, Institute will not be responsible for any loss or postal delay. The request for application form must include the name and address of the candidate, and full particulars of the enclosed DD/BC (write candidate’s name and address on the back of DD). Two self-addressed, preferably typed, white paper slips of 10 cm ´ 6 cm size must also accompany it. The requisition for PMT Application Form should be superscribed “Request for Application Form for PMT-2012, BHU”. Last date of requisition for PMT form by post is 27.02.2012.
Incomplete/non-cashable Draft (under amount/unsigned/ without Bank Code No. & Seal) shall not be accepted. NOTE: (a) M.O./I.P.O./Cheques shall NOT be accepted under any circumstances. Application Forms from the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi-221005 can be obtained by POST only and not in person upto 27.02.2012.
BHU PMT 2012 Pattern:-
BHU PMT screening will have a single question paper containing 200 objective type questions, each carrying 2 marks. There will be 50 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology with a maximum of 100 marks for each subject. Marks will be deducted for incorrect answers. One mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
The PMT Main also will have one question paper with 200 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. The question paper will have two sections. Section A will have 100 questions having 25 questions from each subject (Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology). Against each questions, four responses will be given of which only one will be correct. Section B will have 100 questions with 25 from each of the four subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology). The questions will be of the multiple response type. Each correct answer in PMT Main will carry 2 marks. One mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
