 NEET EXAM
 

The Medical Council of India (MCI) has introduced a new All India Medical Entrance Exam called NEET. The entrance exam is held for students of Medical Science who wish to qualify for admission to MBBS, MD and MS. The test was announced by the Government of India and would be held for the first time in May 2013 for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students. The government had earlier announced to conduct a common medical entrance test for admission to MBBS courses in all 335 government and private medical colleges in India from 2012. The students who have passed there HSC have to appear NEET to get admission to almost all medical colleges in India. 

NEET for Undergraduate:-

The students seeking admission for Undergraduate courses have to appear for an entrance exam called NEET. The Central Board of Secondary Education is conducting the entrance exam. The candidate must have passed 12th class examination with minimum  50% marks including subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized board. The total seats for Under Graduate medical courses are 42,000.
Around 40,000 students go for undergraduate programmes every year.

NEET UG Pattern:-

There are biology 90 questions, physics 45 questions, chemistry 45 questions over all 180 questions for Neet exam. It is divided in four sections Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology and the time duration is of 3hours.

NEET UG 2013 Syllabus:-

The syllabus has been prepared and moderated by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The syllabus is a combination of class XI and XII. The topics to Neet syllabus are Physics topics related to Work, Energy and Power, Laws of Motion, Chemistry Topics related to Equilibrium, Thermodynamics, Organic Chemistry etc. The syllabus was designed according to CBSE syllabus and there was a difference of almost 40% between NEET.

NEET UG Eligiblity:-

The candidate must have passed 12th class examination with minimum  50% marks including subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized board.

NEET UG Collges:-

In India there are about 314 medical colleges.  From 314 medical colleges 144 colleges are being run by State and Central Governments and the remaining 170 colleges are under private managements. Out of these 170, there are about 50 deemed universities.

NEET UG 2013 Exam Date:-

The exam will be held in the last week May.


NEET for Postgraduate:-

The candidate must have passed the Final MBBS examination and have completed internship. The National Board of Examination is conducting the entrance exam. There are 21000 PG medical seats in India and AIIMS alone conducts entrance exam for 50% of the existing PG medical seats. Around 19,000  students go for  Postgraduate programmes every year. The total seats available for the course is 20,600.

NEET PG Pattern:-

The multiple choice questions (MCQs) would be based on the MBBS syllabus as well as the knowledge that needs to be acquired during internship which is also described in the said Regulations.

NEET PG 2013 Syllabus:-

The syllabus is that of MBBS described in the MCI Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997. There will be a single paper of 180 questions of 3 hours duration. Each question will carry one mark.

NEET PG Eligiblity:-

The candidate must have passed the Final MBBS examination and have completed internship.

NEET PG Collges:-
