Introduction to Rajasthan Medical College

Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC) is a statutory body established under the Rajasthan State Act, 1961, to regulate medical education in Rajasthan state.

  • RMC was constituted in 1962. RMC has been granted the status of autonomous body by the Government of Rajasthan.
  • The RMC council is responsible for regulating all aspects of medical education including curriculum, examination, accreditation of institutions, registration of doctors, etc.
  • The council is headed by a Chairman who is appointed by the Governor of Rajasthan. The council consists of 15 members, out of which 10 are nominated by the government and 5 are elected from among the students registered at the undergraduate level.

The RMC council has two functions –

  • regulation of medical education and promotion of health care services.
  • In addition to this, the council is also responsible for conducting examinations for the registration of doctors and dentists.

The council regulates the following courses –

  • Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS),
  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS),
  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT),
  • Bachelor of Nursing (BN).

The council is affiliated with the Indian Medical Association (IMA), All India Ophthalmic Society (AIOS), National Board of Examinations (NBE), and Central Council for Research in Unani medicine (CCRMU), Central Council for Research on Ayurvedic Medicines.

What are the Eligibility Criteria for MBBS in Rajasthan?

To apply for admission into the MBBS course,

  • Applicants need to have passed class 12 from any recognized board.
  • They should also have secured a minimum score of 50% marks in their 10+2 examinations.
  • Applicants who are not able to secure this mark can take the entrance test conducted by ICMR.

NEET UG Medical and Dental Admission Counselling Board- SMS Medical College-Jaipur-Rajasthan conducts MBBS Admission Counselling for Rajasthan.

  • The counseling includes MBBS seats at Rajasthan’s government and private medical institutes. Except for NRI quota seats, only students from Rajasthan are eligible to apply.
  • Reservation is in effect for both government and fee-paying seats at all private medical institutes in Rajasthan.

Students must verify/submit their original documents, a demand draught for the required fees, and two copies of the application form, as well as self-attested photocopies.

These original documents will be stored with the joined medical college till the course is completed.

3. Counseling Rounds

The Rajasthan state quota counseling committee holds three rounds of MBBS admission counseling.

2. Second Round of Counseling (Online): Candidates allocated a seat in Round 2 (fresh allotment / upgradation) who do not join their Round 2 allotted seat or quit in a timely manner will be required to lose their registration fee.

3. Mop-up Round (Offline): Applications are being accepted from all over India.

If any seats remain vacant after the mop-up phase, they will be filled using the All India NEET merit list, and students from any state are welcome to apply.

The fee structure for admission into the MBBS course in Rajasthan is Rs. 6 lakhs per year. This includes tuition fees, hostel accommodation, food allowance, uniform, etc.

  • The total cost of the study is around Rs. 1.5 Lakhs per annum.
  • The annual fee structure for the BDS course is Rs. 7.5 lakhs per year.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MBBS Admission Rajasthan

The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) is conducted twice a year by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi for admission into MBBS/BDS Courses at various medical colleges across India.

NEET UG is a national-level entrance test that is conducted to select students who wish to pursue undergraduate courses in medicine.

This exam is held for admissions to undergraduate medical courses in India.

  • DURATION OF THE EXAM- The duration of the exam is two hours.
