MCI offers special quotas for international students and NRI students. Non-Resident Indian (NRI) students can apply for MBBS under this quota, which has 15% of places reserved for them.

You can only apply for 15% NRI quota places if you are in one of the following categories. The categories are as follows:

  1. Indian citizens residing or residing abroad and their children are considered NRIs.
  2. Children of persons employed under state or central government jurisdiction and serving while on assignment abroad may apply for NRI quota positions.
  3. Applicants of Indian origin but living abroad are considered NRI candidates.
  4. Among Indian students, those born in the international arena are also considered NRI students.
  5. Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and POI are also included in the NRI candidate list.
  6. If you fall under any of the categories mentioned above, you are eligible to apply for admission to medical colleges in India.

The process to get MBBS admission in India through NRI quota

The admission process for NRI MBBS is similar to that for Indian students. MBBS places will be made available to NRI students for 15% of the places reserved by the NRI quota. These 15% places will be divided among international students who wish to apply for admission to medical schools in India.

  • The NRI MBBS process follows the following steps:
  • Applicants must apply for the NEET UG exam and pass the exam with appropriate grades.
  • Applicants will then need to apply for a NEET-UG consultation along with their NEET score.
  • Depending on your break, you will be invited to an online consultation and a seat will be allocated according to the NRI quota.
  • After the allocation of places, the candidate can contact the college to pay for tuition and confirm admission.

Important Points for NRI candidates

  1. NRI students have to follow certain rules to get admission in place of the NRI quota. These 15% seats in AI Consulting and Government Consulting will be shared with foreign nationals seeking medical access.
  2. Even if candidates have completed their schooling abroad, students are required to appear for the NEET exam and pass the exam with eligibility marks. They are eligible to apply for the counseling process only if they sit for the NEET exam.
  3. At least one of the parents must be residing abroad as an NRI and must have resided outside India for at least 5 years.
  4. The student sponsor must have a first-degree blood relationship with their financial sponsor.
  5. Proof that the NRI is a sponsor of the candidate at the Indian Embassy or proof of residency in the Ministry of Resident Country is required.
  6. A bank passbook is required to show proof of your financial status.
  7. Proof of valid identity of financial sponsor such as passport, visa, work permit, etc. Is required.
  8. If applicants do not have parents or first-degree blood relatives, the following relationship will be considered:
  • Uncle and aunt (father’s brother or sister)
  • Mama or aunt (mother’s brother or sister)
  • Grandparents (parents of parents)
  • A first-degree cousin on both father and motherhood

 

What are the eligibility criteria for MBBS admission in NRI quota 2024?

To be eligible for MBBS admission in India through the NRI quota, students have to meet certain criteria.



In order to enroll in the MBBS program at Indian Medical Universities, NRI students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants must have supporting documents proving that they are NRI candidates.
  • Students must have a valid passport.
  • The student was required to pass the NEET exam with appropriate grades.
  • The applicant must have completed school education in the 10 + 2 format or in an equivalent education system.
  • Applicants must complete their studies in Biology as one of their core subjects and other subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics must be included in their curriculum.
  • Applicants must have a real blood relationship with financial assistants such as father, mother, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, etc.
  • Applicants must be 17 years of age or older.
